One hot summer day in 1958, a Hungarian immigrant named Andrew Peller arrived in the Okanagan Valley. Having owned a series of successful businesses, he was here to finally pursue his dream. He envisioned a day when Canadians, like Europeans, would come to appreciate premium-quality wines and enjoy sharing them with family and friends.

After exhaustive research, he was convinced these wines would come from the Okanagan, where the winters are mild, the summers are hot, and the sun shines more than two thousand hours every year. So he purchased a parcel of land on the banks of the Similkameen River with a southern exposure and vine-friendly, stone-laden soil – the perfect place for his dream to take root.
