WinemakerStephanie Leinemann, Winemaker
Stephanie’s sterling academic credentials and passion for working with the latest tools and techniques have formed the foundation for her success as lead winemaker of Peller Estates’ BC VQA wines. A native of Kelowna, BC, Stephanie’s love for wine began while working at a restaurant in the Rhineland Pfalz area of Germany during a college sabbatical. Upon returning to Canada, she transferred to Ontario’s Brock University to pursue a degree in Oenology and Viticulture – and her dream of becoming a winemaker. In 2002, she was named “Top Female Winemaking Student” at the Women in Gastronomy Awards. And, in 2003, she received her Honours Bachelor of Science degree as well as the President’s Medal for the highest overall average of any graduate, in any faculty.
She began her winemaking career in the Okanagan Valley soon after graduation and released her first vintage for Peller Estates two years later: the critically acclaimed 2005 Heritage Pinot Grigio. Today, Stephanie is as passionate as ever about experimentation and steadfast in her commitment to developing world-class wines, such as the Andrew Peller Signature Series, right here in BC. |
