Born in Kingston, Ontario, Lawrence spent many of his childhood years living overseas, and his father's passion for wine drew his family to visit many great wine regions of the world. After moving back to Canada, Lawrence pursued wine and winemaking as a hobby while he studied Chemical Engineering. His passion for wine continued to grow and in 1999, he entered the CCOVI wine program and graduated in 2002.
He joined Peller Estates in April 2003 as an Assistant Winemaker to Rob Summers, and in the summer of 2005, was handed the coveted position of Peller Estates Winemaker.
Lawrence is guided by his palate, tasting his wines constantly with Winery Chef Jason Parsons in the kitchen and vineyard. He is inspired to create wines that marry perfectly with Chef's dishes; wines that are well-balanced, with the perfect freshness, acidity and structure for the table.

Since Chef Jason Parsons' arrival at Peller Estates Winery Restaurant, it has gained recognition as the leading dining destination in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada's premier Wine Region. The restaurant has been awarded the CAA 4 diamond rating, 3 stars in Toronto Life magazine, the Golden Plate Award from Le Clefs d'Or, as well as being recognized with Zagat's highest rating for food – "Extraordinary"
Jason brings over twenty years of culinary experience to the Peller Estates Winery kitchen that he has gathered from some of the world's most renowned restaurants. Today, Jason works closely with Peller Estates’ Winemaker Lawrence Buhler, creating inspired cuisine that marries perfectly with the wines of Peller Estates. Jason is also recognizable as a familiar television personality. For seven years he has been a Guest Expert on the popular TV show CityLine, entertaining and informing viewers across Canada.
